Who IS this person?

“Kamile Kapel is a natural entertainer who can make a coffee shop experience a step into a Bohemian Rhapsody.”

“I bought two records this week: Kamile Kapel’s”Kiss the Ground” and Bob Dylan’s newest. While Bob’s is fun, a greasy chicken bone of a record, Kapel’s is the one that I keep going back to, the one that resonates. I stumbled upon Kapel’s CD while looking for Rumi poems on Google. The internet can be a mess, but sometimes a guy gets lucky. I truly love that she rhymes “yogini” and “bikini.” And I feel stoned by the beauty of what she’s done with Rumi. It is sublime.”

“Last Saturday night, I stopped at Blenz for a Latte, and was so pleasantly surprised to see/hear a live performer – pretty progressive for a chain coffee shop in this town. When I lived in Europe, the sight of a performer in a cafe was de rigueur. Back in Canada (except for Quebec), it’s rare. Then you started your last song. I didn’t let on, but I must say that I was very impressed, amused and moved by your piece. I really enjoyed the mixture of spoken word and singing, the musical variety, and your passion for performing.

“I dropped $500 into your tip jar (did you get it? ;-o [actually just $5, but after listening to your album tonight $500 wouldn't be out of line for how it affected and inspired me ;-]. I made note of your name and website and left, making a cheeky comment about ‘Sexy in Blenz’ as I exited through the front door. Finally tonight, I checked out your website before I started to write, and bought your album through iTunes. It was all great, with notable mention to Kiss the Ground and Love Comes with a Knife as my favourites. Oh, and The Glassblower’s Breath. The opening violin reminds me of Hungarian Gypsy music. WOW, now that’s emotive. Great stuff for my writing tonight. Thank you. You have great lyrics by the way; and I’m very particular about lyrics. I found your work to be very original, but also makes me think; Loreena McKennitt meets The The.”

“When I received Kamile Kapel’s CD along with 105 others for the BC Festival of the Arts, I listened to it six times. “Who IS this person?” I kept asking myself. “She’s crazy. And I really like her.”

Mitch Podolak
Founder of The Winnipeg Folk Festival

“A charming and engaging live performer whose jazzy riffs suggest the love child of Tori Amos and Tom Waits, channeling Rumi.”

“There is kind of full capacity joy that comes from Kamile Kapel’s music when she is performing. This feeling is contagious and the audience immediately feels like they’re participating in a very memorable musical event. She has a natural sense of humour and flow to her performance that is very engaging and fosters total participation by the audience-in terms of the heart and the mind.”

Paul Plimley
Award winning Composer and Pianist

“Kamile Kapel’s music reveals the talent, passion, and commitment that are the marks of a true artist. I was honoured to be part of her first step into what promises to be a very creative and successful career.”

Joseph “Pepe” Danza
Producer/Arranger of Kiss the Ground

“Six of the songs on Kamile Kapel’s new CD are based on poems by Rumi, a 13th Century Persian mystic. “Kiss the Ground” gives us a whole new way to indulge in Rumi, this juiciest of all master poets. Anyone who already knows Rumi, get ready for a wild ride. Anyone who doesn’t, come on in, you life will never be the same.”
